I helped a friend throw an "over the hill" 40th birthday party for her husband. Instead of the traditional 40th party - black, gag gift type shindig I went with a prehistoric man theme.
table right before guests sat down to eat. i used a few centerpieces but mostly used the food we were serving as the centerpiece. i left the food in it's whole state, as much as possible, trying to keep the food the way caveman would find it - whole fruits, nuts, etc.
